Unexpected Changes

This week turned out to be a little difficult to process, as Playful Studios laid off many of its employees, which included my mentor Mr. Barsoum. This should not slow down my personal work, but it still was a big impact for me as even though I knew studio layoffs are common, it made me realize how close to me it can happen. Nonetheless, I still plan on continuing my mentorship with Mr. Barsoum for the rest of the year, just not at the studio anymore. Also this week, I wrote my product proposal, explaining what I will be creating for the spring semester. I have already been planning for the rest of the year as my product is one continuous process, but writing down my plans made my timeline a bit more clear and provided more deadlines to ensure that I get it done in time. My mentor originally helped me decide when I needed the major sections completed by, but writing the proposal defined when I needed to finish the smaller tasks. This also made me consider the implications of modeling further, as during the research showcase I learned about how it can be applicable to medical studies and advertising, which can impact society beyond animation. By writing this I feel more prepared and better paced for my project, and I am more confident to begin the next step in my project.
