This week I was planning to attach the skin to my rig, but two main obstacles came up and I did not have the chance to. The second was that I could not upload the Advanced Skeleton tool into my home computer. It has to do with the fact that I don’t have the rendering tool Arnold installed, so the code did not match up with the installation program. I even tried an older version of the skeleton, and it had the same result. This means my only opportunity to work with the Skeleton tool is during the classes that I have access to Maya, which is two plus advisory. This affected my second obstacle, which was the realization that I did not choose the right rig. I followed the online tutorial and used the basic biped rig originally, but this meant I had to scale down my model a lot to make it fit properly. After this, I thought about putting the model into the game engine Unity, and how it would probably scale down my model as well. I decided I needed to redo my rig using the game biped rig instead of the basic biped. I have a second mentor visit this week, which means that I will probably discuss the next step of the process, the actual animation. I am a little disappointed in myself this week that I was not able to move past the skinning process, because I should be animating now, but I hope I will still be able to pace myself well for the time that I have left, on top of my regular school work and real work.
