Preparing for Research Showcase

Writer's picture: Grace SullivanGrace Sullivan

I stayed busy this week working on the next step of my model, which is texturing. My original goal was to have a rig complete by research showcase, but I had to step back to just finishing the texture. I decided I could not fit in any rigging in before showcase because unwrapping the UVs turned out to be more of a challenge than I planned, so I stuck with making sure my model looks as good as it can be. I wish I had anticipated how difficult the unwrapping would be, because at the end of the week I was worried that I would not be able to get it done. Nonetheless, I was able to finish it throughout the week and now all that is left before the showcase is to finish painting the texture, and then apply it to the character. I am beyond excited that I overcame this difficult process in time so that I can present it and move on to the next step. For this upcoming week, my main goal is to have a successful presentation at showcase, and get back on track for my project's timeline by starting the rig. This will probably be a very long process as well, but since it is the beginning of the semester I should have plenty of time to get it done. I look forward to getting more practice in the next steps of the pipeline and hope my character will be fit to animate soon.
