It's All Comin' Together

After what seemed like many weeks of procrastination and confusion, I have finally finished the rig of my character. In the two months since the research showcase I have built the skeleton and created the rig for my character Crystal. This week specifically, I utilized the Paint Joints Tool to clean up the joints in the rig. This made sure each joint only affects the the correct pieces of the mesh, so now each joint moves properly and there are not any extra pieces moving. The most difficult portion was the spine joints, as they affected how the rest of the joints moved. It was challenging making the hip rotations look natural since I have such a low-poly mesh, but after I figured it out all of the other pieces were relatively easy. Like my mentor told me, it was a time-consuming process that I am fortunate I could finish over the weekend. Now that I have completed this rigorous process, I can look forward to having a mentor visit this week to review my progress and move on from working with the rig. I feel that this process was the most difficult to understand, but I had lots of time to learn how the process is done during these two months. The rest of the year will be focused on just animating, and I am so excited that I got through all these roadblocks in my project.
