As the days of e-school drag on, I find that calling and keeping in touch with people helps me feel like a normal student again. I was able to have a second virtual meeting with my mentor today to look over my progress on my idle animation, and it felt like I was actually learning instead of looking at the websites our teachers send us to for work. I am very thankful Mr. Barsoum was available to call me, and I learned a surprising amount of information to help me in my future career. To start, it is very hard to include follow through actions in a character loop. You have a very short time frame to fit in cycling movements that should be uneven, but you can’t move it because it will break the loop. That was the biggest problem I faced and the biggest thing my mentor pointed out to me, but he also showed me how to fix it. It's as simple as going into the graph editor and holding down W as you move keys, which will help me tremendously if I am making video game character loops in the future. All I have left to do for my idle is use this to make the head more clearly follow the motion of Crystal’s body with some drag, and to do this for other parts of her body. On top of this, I was worried about overexaggerating the movements, but Mr. Barsoum said it was only too much on the head bobbing, which is an easy fix. This will be an easy fix and I can move on soon to the next motion, which will be a walk cycle or an attack.
