Ain't No Rest for the ISM Student

A lot happened in one week. On Wednesday, I went to the FISD business symposium for ISM students, and there I got resume advice and also boosted my network by meeting with professionals. I didn't truly know what to expect until I arrived, but the tips I got for how to improve my resume were very beneficial and will definitely help me after finishing school. During the week I also got to interview Lorien Meggersee at Gearbox Software, who is an animation producer and oversees the department. This was beyond exciting, as I was introduced to other animators, similar to my Reel FX visit, but this was a much larger studio, and the professionals I met had worked on big titles such as the game series Borderlands. Getting to visit the studio and being able to compare it to Reel FX gave me a more focused idea for my original work. It helped me realize I am more interested in video game animation and that if I find a mentor at Gearbox, it will be a newer experience and I will learn more from it. This upcoming week I plan to continue to connect with professionals and keep up with my assignments.
